Talk in relation to the exhibition ‘Dust Clay Stone’ Stefan Jonsson: Stories from Scoresbysund

Stefan Jonsson wrote a book, Stories from Scoresbysund (2003), with Pia Arke, one of the participating artists in the last exhibition Dust Clay Stone. A video of his talk from Sweden regarding Arke’s life and work is now on our Youtube channel.

The book Stories from Scoresbysund recounts the past of Pia Arke’s maternal grandparents, who had to relocate to Scoresbysund in the east, 1,000 km far from south of Greenland due to political disputes between Norway and Denmark. It was a long work of categorizing people appeared in archives and photographs of migrants and their descendants at the time. Stefan Jonsson talks about his collaboration with Pia Arke and practices hers, along with contents in the book, including pictures, letters, and statements.
