Curator Talk: Jacob Fabricius
Art Sonje Center will hold a Curator Talk with Jacob Fabricius at 7 pm, 4th April, 2018. Fabricius will present and discuss different curatorial strategies for approaching visual art in public spaces. He will look at how artists and curators can intervene in public spaces and situations, and possibly reach and generate new audiences. Fabricius will present one of the most recent public projects he has initiated, a public sculpture by Gillian Wearing titled A Real Danish Family (2017). A Real Danish Family
was a collaboration between Kunsthal Aarhus, SMK and Danish Broadcasting Corporation, Denmark, and involved 492 Danish families that volunteered to be part of the project and competition.
About the Speaker
Jacob Fabricius is the artistic director at Kunsthal Aarhus, Denmark, and a board member of The Danish Arts Foundations Committee for Visual Arts Grant that among other things commissions public art works in Denmark. Previously he was director at Malmö Konsthall, Sweden and at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, Denmark, where he has curated numerous of international exhibitions. He has also utilized a number of exhibitions and projects in public spaces and at unusual venues. Fabricius is the founder of the publishing project Pork Salad Press and Old News.
