Curator Talk: Chien-hung Huang – Subjectivation under Para-Colonial Situation
Para-colonial situation is the specific situation in globalization age, which becomes more flexible and fractal than the domination interpreted and criticized by post-colonialism. The domination and exploitation don’t represent themselves via the difference of social classes or between nations, even there’s no more rigid role as perpetrator or victim. This is the actual situation of nowadays as well as the disguised reality with different reasons for longtime. When the democratization started in Asia since the middle of 80’s, the symptom of the para-colonization affected strongly the artists at that time. This recent research will focus on a specific period of artist, Chen Chieh-jen, between 1978-1988, try to see the mutation of subjectivation as a specific process of poïesis resistance, and the deep relationship between individuals in Asia and variant global structure.
