Seung Woo Back (Born in 1973 in Daejeon) studied photography in Korea. In 2001, He moved to London and later received degrees in Fine Art and Theory.His works question the unquestioned qualities of photography, such as objectivity, directness, and universality. He has had solo exhibitions including Walking on the Line (Centre A, Vancouver, 2015); Photographs 2001-2015 by Seung Woo Back (Goeun Museum of Photography, Busan, 2015); Gaps, Unrealistic Generals (Gana Art Center, Seoul, 2012); Memento (Doosan Gallery, New York City, 2012); Deferred Judgment (Art Sonje Center, Seoul, 2011). He has participated in a number of group exhibitions including REAL DMZ PROJECT (Arhus Museum, Arhus, 2017), Far Games (Korean Pavilion Venice Architecture Biennale, 2016) Dreamland (Pompidou Center, Paris, 2010), andarchiTECHtonica (CU Art Museum, Colorado, 2010). His recent major exhibitions are Korea Artist Prize 2016 (National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul, 2016), North Korean Perspectives (Drent Museum, Assen, 2015). He was chosen as The Artist of the year 2016 of National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea. He has consistently published his books including Nobody Reads Pictures (SAMUSO, 2011), Walking On the Line(IANNBOOKS, 2015) and Blank Medium (IANNBOOKS, 2017).

Dr. Alex Taek-Gwang Lee is a cultural critic and professor in Kyung Hee University, Republic of Korea. He obtained MA in philosophy from University of Warwick and PhD in Cultural Theory from The University of Sheffield.
