Adrián Villar Rojas in Conversation with Sunjung Kim, Artistic Director of the Art Sonje Center.
This conversation draws attention to the recently published book From the Series The Most Beautiful Moment of War. This publication encompasses Rojas’ project for the REAL DMZ PROJECT. In 2014, the Argentine artist Rojas participated in the REAL DMZ PROJECT, spending a month in Yangji-ri, a village within the DMZ buffer zone. Building a deep connection with the residents of Yangji-ri, the artist proposed to develop and document a series of activities designed to evoke a realm of imagination that would engross both the village and its neighboring areas. Over time, the artist formed a close bond with the community, allowing the camera to capture the intricate details of their relationship in the everyday setting of Yangji-ri. The result of this experience was produced as a documentary film The Most Beautiful Moment of War (2017), which was first premiered at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival in 2017. The Talk program at Art Sonje Center will celebrate the launch of the publication From the Series The Most Beautiful Moment of War, intricately woven with the project and film. We invite you to join us for this engaging discussion and delve into Adrian Villar Rojas’s profound reflection on life and art.
