Spectrosynthesis Seoul Performance Program: Woojin Jeon, Dual Knitting

Join us on March 22 and 28 for the performance event by Woojin Jeon, held in conjunction with Spectrosynthesis Seoul.

Woojin Jeon, Dual Knitting, 2026, Two person electrical cable knitting performance (Ends when the cable runs out). VCTF 1.5 sq 2C black cable, aluminium knitting needles
Dual Knitting is a performance associated with the artist’s installation Knit 400 kg. Woojin Jeon and a performer sit across from each other at the gallery’s center and weave approximately100kg of industrial electrical wire. Gripping five strands of 8 mm cable and weaving them with their entire bodies, they transform knitting into both a meditative practice and an act of intense labor. As the knitted mass grows longer and heavier, their postures and movements transform to cope with the weight. In the process, the divisions between the industrial and the corporeal and between the strong and the weak end up shifting and inverting. As they push, pull, raise, and sit on the material, the two performers share a process of weaving and unraveling long-held, unresolved issues, one stitch at a time.

Woojin Jeon
Woojin Jeon (b. 1992, Korea) confronts how masculinity, violence, and hierarchy operate in everyday life, using his practice to endure and reconfigure them. He is particularly attentive to the conflicts that emerge between socially assigned roles based on physical conditions and the inner attitudes that diverge from those expectations. By redirecting the established use of weighty industrial materials, Joen’s work proposes another mode of being—one in which the body and life are not defined solely by function or role.
