Art Sonje Center presents Film Jam – 36 Hours of Fun and Horror , a program in conjunction with the exhibition iwillmedievalfutureyou1. Consisting of film screenings, an exhibition tour, an artist’s talk, and a DJ set, the program will start at 12 p.m. on October 18 and last for 36 hours.

Working with Jacob Lillemose, a Copenhagen-based curator, writer, and horror expert involved in ongoing work with the textual and literary layers projected within exhibitions, Jacob Fabricius, the curator of iwillmedievalfutureyou1, has selected films connected with the exhibition to create another narrative within it.
The first film selected by Fabricius was O Lucky Man! (1973). Lillemose responded with his own recommendation for a second film – a “relay “approach that led to the selection of 12 films, with two additional Korean films recommended by participating artist Kang Jungsuck, bringing the total up to fourteen.

In addition to the film screenings, Fabricius himself will be presenting a “Midnight Exhibition Tour” at 11 pm on Oct. 18, while participating artist Mark von Schlegell will be taking part in the artist’s talk “Dreaming the Mainstream” at 6 pm on Oct. 19.
For this talk, Mark von Schlegell will be discussing the literary elements that appear in his work within the contexts of science fiction and conceptual art. A critic, literary theorist, and science fiction writer himself, Schlegell earned a Ph. D. in literature from New York University and published works of science fiction and “fictocritical” literary theory from a position outside the mainstream in the 1990s. The talk will use his works Realometer (2009) and Dreaming the Mainstream (2013) to discuss the artist’s theory of literature that encounters its own theories and creates a navigable reality.

The program will conclude after the talk with a DJ set by CHOI TAEHYUN together with a screening of O Lucky Man!
