Korean contemporary photography exhibition by Chung ChuHa is held from 1st May to 27th July,2008 in Art Sonje Center, Seoul Korea curated by SAMUSO: Space for Contemporary Art.
Chung’s images deal with the scandalous theme of the village near atomic power plants. They are not necessarily alarming or rebellious. Rather they look speculative. Lessening the contrasts even under the daylight and letting them show reticently, he approaches the objects so simply that they fail in attraction inadvertent viewers. But if you look seriously into the objects submerged in the ordinary-looking images, you get immediately faced with the anxiety that remains as a sediment of dried-up sensibility, and with the anxiety that stuffs the images like air.
