5: Art Sonje Collection Show

Art Sonje prepare this exhibition, 5: Collection, thinking it as a precious opportunity for us to give a collective and comprehensive retrospect on the exhibition career for the last five years since its inauguration in 1998. This exhibition presents major Art Sonje Collection pieces that show the exhibition history of the museum from the exhibition “Ssak”(Bud) to the recent shows. Art Sonje particularly remembers the show, “Ssak”(Bud) as virtually the first show foretelling the artistic character of Art Sonje and the show was open at Hanok that used to be standing at the current site of the museum, and then moved to right next to Art Sonje during its construction.

In formulating its collection, Art Sonje sets its principle that museum acquisition is meant to introduce and support young artist whose artistic potential has just begun to unfold in international art world. Art Sonje’s such efforts to initiate and support young artists’ new production and absorb them into its collection become strong resources to our activities of the future.

Attributing all our achievements so far to young artists and their enthusiastic endeavor, Art Sonje Center sends our best wishes to their future career. We’d like to also acknowledge that our deep gratitude should go to individual supporters and corporate sponsors whose contribution has been crucial in realizing our vision and conviction.
