2012 Art Sonje Lounge Project #4: Re-Establishing Shot, Open Index, Preview & Review REAL DMZ PROJECT 2012

Art Sonje Lounge Project has transformed the lounge of Art Sonje Center, where ‘The Books’ and a cafe are located, through participating artists’ projects since 2009. These projects attempt to open up a space for encouraging experimental and challenging practices reflecting the multi-functional feature of the lounge.
For its fourth project of this year, 2012 Art Sonje Lounge Project #4 features large scale photographs Re-Establishing Shot by Seung Woo Back, Preview & Review REAL DMZ PROJECT 2012 by the participating artists of REAL DMZ PROJECT 2012, and Open Index which presents videos and publications by emerging Korean artists. The participants of Global Institute 2012: Gwangju Biennale Backyard Camp also present a project during the exhibition period.

Open Index presents an index of diverse artistic practices, showing videos and publications by emerging Korean artists Youngeun Keem, Hyemin Son and Eunu Lee.

Born in 1980, Youngeun Keem was educated at the School of Visual Art, Korea National University of Arts in Seoul, Korea and Hongik University, Seoul, Korea. Recent projects include Room 402 (Hostel 402, Mullae Art Factory, Seoul, 2011) in addition to solo exhibitions The Units of the World according to ;Semicolon (Project Space Sarubia, Seoul, 2011) and Lesson for a Naming Office: Chapter 1 (Alternative Space Loop, Seoul, 2009). She also participated in many group exhibitions, includingImage and Text – Ut Pictura Poesis (ONE AND J. Gallery, Seoul, 2012) and Media Landscape: Zone East (Liverpool Biennale, Contemporary Urban Center, Liverpool, 2010).

Born in 1977, Hyemin Son graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London, and Kyungwon University, Korea. Son curates and participates in various publication projects and exhibitions, including Minor Adjustments (Incheon Art Platform, Incheon, 2011), Dual Mirage (Goyang Art Studio, Korea / Project Space 2 at Iniva, London, 2010), Out of Line (Space Hamilton, Seoul, 2010), and Multiple Intimacy (part of the 10th Istanbul Biennale, Istanbul, 2007).

Born in 1982, Eunu Lee was educated at the School of Visual Art, Korea National University of Arts in Seoul, Korea. Her recent selected shows include Uncountable Collection (Sangsangmadang Gallery, Seoul, 2011), Intuition (Gallery Hakgojae, Seoul, 2010), Novel 01: in Search of Junho Lee (Takeout Drawing, Seoul, 2009). Eunu Lee published artists’ books 300,000,000 KRW, Korea, 2010 and also wrote a short story for Novel 01: Footnotes without Text in 2010.
