Screening: Melvin Moti
Art Sonje Center is pleased to present a screening on Cosmism, the first Art Sonje Project in 2017, which will be held ahead of the exhibition opening. This public event will provide the audience an opportunity to understand the works of Melvin Moti, who examines neurological, scientific, and historic process in relation to visual culture. No Show (2004), a film that takes place in Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia, during the World War II, and Eigenlicht (2012), a film which has been presented at the 55th Venice Biennale in 2013, will be screened. In addition, the screening will allow the audience to further understand Cosmism by featuring the film on display at the exhibition, Cosmism (2015), as well as Documentation of Cluster Illusion (2014), which shows the making process of Cluster Illusion (2014). Finally, the screening will be followed by preview tours at the exhibition site.

About the artist
Melvin Moti (b. 1977)
Melvin Moti lives and works in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He examines neurological, scientific, and historic processes in relation to visual culture. He has had solo exhibitions at Mori Art Museum (Tokyo), Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (Troy, New York), Contemporary Art Centre Vilnius, Mudam (Luxembourg), Wiels (Brussels), Kunstverein Harburger Bahnhof (Hamburg), Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam), and Museum für Moderne Kunst (Frankfurt). he also exhibited Eigengrau (2011) and Eigenlicht (2012) in The Encyclopedic Palace at the 55th International Art Exhibition, Venice, Italy.
