Art Sonje Center releases a Micro Duffel for Survival. Inspired by the duffel bag once used to carry equipment on the battlefield, this merchandise has been scaled down to hold everyday survival essentials, and has been produced to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Art Sonje Center.

As part of fork’s Gear Series, Inwoo Lee and Moonsick Gang reconfigured elements of military gear into a contemporary object, constructing its structure and form. On this, they generated a digital camo graphic by evoking afterimages and distorted signals left behind in virtual space. The layered structure conceals images of the “eye,” creating a scene where the real and the immaterial intersect, while inverting the dynamics of the gaze and questioning the way we look.

Retaining military details of the duffel bag such as eyelets and ropes, this merchandise reinterprets their scale, placement, and function. Made with jungle cloth, the bag’s form can be freely adjusted with its drawstring. The product is available at Art Sonje Center’s online and offline stores.
