World Weather Network
Art Sonje Center presents World Weather Network from 13 October to 20 November 2022 at Art Sonje Project Space and (TOGETHER)(TOGETHER).
World Weather Network is a global network of 28 arts organizations around the world that inaugurated in 2021 in response to the climate and biodiversity emergencies. They together created an online platform (www.worldweathernetwork.org) while each as an autonomous agency operated its own local “weather station” commissioning projects by artists and their collaborators, who have been sharing their “weather reports” on the online platform. As more and more organizations and individuals engage and participate, the World Weather Network will grow to form a denser and broader global network.
World Weather Network presents the World Weather Network on an exhibition format. The exhibition introduces the 28 weather stations and their projects, in addition to exhibiting actual works that have been selected through conversations with 9 of the arts organizations: Artangel, Fogo Island Arts, IHME Helsinki, Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD), NEON, Nicoletta Fiorucci Foundation, Nothing Gets Organised (NGO) & POOL, SAHA, and Te Tuhi. Artangel’s James Lingwood, who initiated and led the World Weather Network, will give a talk as part of the exhibition program. A global network based in cooperation and collaboration, the World Weather Network is expected to confirm and extend the existence and power of “we” in this time of crisis.
